Sara Sanders

As long as I can remember, I have wanted to work with children. It wasn’t until my sophomore of year of college when I took my first Child Development class that I realized I wanted to teach the youngest children.

I ended up graduating with a degree in Early and Exceptional Education from Moorhead State University in Minnesota. Growing up on a farm in Minnesota taught me many things. Loving the snow was not one of them. As soon as I graduated, I moved to warmer weather here in San Diego. I am grateful for the strong values and work ethic I learned growing up on the farm.

I am married and have two children of my own (also Children Center alumni). My boys have very fond memories of the activities, friends, teachers and food from their time at the Children’s Center. When I am not working, I love spending time with my family. We enjoy being outdoors, playing basketball, hanging out at the pool and going to movies.

In the classroom, my favorite activities are finding bugs, exploring with sensory materials and gardening. One of the joys of my job is working with the many Child Development Students at SDSU and in our Community. I learn as much from them as they learn from me. As part of the Administration team, it is still the best part of my job when I can spend time with the children in the classrooms or outside.

I am proud to work at a Center that focuses on providing quality early education for children and I am grateful to all the children and families that have touched my life and helped me grow as a teacher.

Working at the SDSU Children’s Center has been a wonderful journey with many amazing opportunities and life lessons along the way. I have met some wonderful families and friends over the years. I look forward to the many new relationships to come.
