 Profile

Hello Families,

My name is Kim Dunlap and I am one of the Supervising Teachers at the SDSU Children’s Center.  I began working at the Children’s Center in the summer of 2000, as a part time Assistant Teacher.  This was a wonderful job for me to have while studying Child Development at SDSU.  I loved spending time with the children here at the center and all the Master Teachers were wonderful mentors for me at that time.  I graduated from SDSU in 2003 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development, and within 6 months had a full time Master Teacher position here at the center.  Over the next 6 years I really enjoyed being with the children and found my stride in the classroom.  The families and staff were amazing and my Supervisor was another excellent mentor in my life.  In January 2010 I was given the opportunity to become a Supervising Teacher.  It was a big decision for me to walk away from my current classroom, but I knew it would end up being a good experience for me.  Since making that decision I have continued to learn and grow.  One thing that I have come to find and love about working with children, I learn something new on a daily basis.  I have loved being here at the Children’s Center; they truly are my second family.

In my spare time I love to hang out with my friends and family.  My friends and I tend to be “foodies” and trying out new restaurants is one of our favorite things to do.  I also enjoy hanging out at the beach and when I get the chance I LOVE spending time with my nephew, which doesn’t happen too often because he lives in Northern California.

The SDSU Children’s Center holds such a special place in my heart and I am so thankful that I get to spend my days provoking interest in the children, guiding and mentoring the Part Time Staff and creating a strong team with the other Full Time Teachers.
