 Profile

Hello, my name is Dawn. I grew up in the Bay Area but proudly call San Diego my home. I moved down here to attend SDSU where I graduated with my Bachelors in Child and Family Development. I found my passion for teaching in high school as a volunteer in classrooms of children with special needs. This greatly influence my decision to become a child development major. Throughout my undergrad, I worked in elementary schools, preschools, with children in foster care, and with the Office of Violence Prevention. After graduating, I taught as a toddler teacher for two years before moving up to Portland, OR. There, I was an older toddler/preschool teacher for almost six years before moving back and settling down in San Diego, finding myself exactly where I belong - the SDSU Children’s Center. I love watching children learn and grow and I take pride in being part of some of the most important years of their lives.

Outside of the classroom, I love to cook, try new restaurants, travel, and most importantly - spend time with my husband, our son and daughter.
