 Profile
Hi, my name is Abby Castro and I am a Master Teacher at the SDSU Children’s Center!

I am a true Aztec for Life. I grew up going to SDSU basketball games with my family and visiting my mom who works on campus. In my free time I enjoy taking walks with my family, game nights with friends, reading, crocheting, and exploring nature at the National Parks.

When I started working as a teacher I was on a different career path but, after a year of teaching I fell in love with the field of early childhood education and the tiny humans I was interacting with everyday. I have worked at the SDSU Children's Center since 2017 when I started as an Assistant Teacher. I have a B.S. in Child & Family Development and a B.S. in Recreation & Tourism Management from SDSU. I am currently working towards my Master's in Child Development and graduating in May of 2023.

A unique part of my story is that I attended the SDSU Children’s Center as a child and I am an alumni of the program. I have fond memories of playing out at Memory Park and Ms. Lee Ann, the preschool west supervising teacher, who was my teacher once upon a time. I hope to build similar memories for your children that they can take with them as they grow and flourish into incredible people.

“Learning teaches us what is known, play makes it possible for new things to be learned. There are many concepts and skills that can only be learned through play.” — David Elkind
