Angie Hebert

Food Service Assistant

Angie Hebert

Hello, my name is Angie short for Angeli’a. I was born and raised in San Diego most of my life.

I went to high school in Chula Vista, and graduated in El Cajon, and more education at Cuyamaca College.

I grew up knowing that with the struggles I had been through as a young person that I wanted to work with troubled youth, and help them find their way. Most importantly, to let them know they were not alone. My path quickly changed after marriage, and for trying to have children.

Shortly after I was blessed to receive a job offer as a teacher’s aide in a church related pre-school. This was a great opportunity for me to work with children, and further my education. A few short years later I was teaching myself.

After many years at the pre-school, lots of schooling, and many great memories of the little people who have touched my life, my time with the pre-school had reached its end due to much needed back surgery. After a four month recovery, again I was blessed to be told about a job opening at the Children’s Center, and a new journey started for me when I applied for the job. After a week and 2 interviews I was welcomed as the new kitchen assistant here at Associated Students.

The years here have gone by so quickly, but I have enjoyed every minute. I have really had the opportunity to get to know, and enjoy all the children at the center along with their daily curiosity of “what’s for lunch Ms. Angie”! These children warm my heart every day, and I feel incredibly lucky to be here.

My interests are spending as much time as possible with family. My Mother, brother, sister in-law, and nephews are amazing, as well as my extended family. My step father, brother, sisters, nieces, and nephews most definitely complete our family circle with lots of love, and gatherings that keep us all connected.

My passion/hobby by far is cooking & baking… I truly love to put a smile on people’s faces with my special dishes, and treats. This is what drew me to the job position here at the Children’s Center. Getting to be a part of the children’s nutritional choices, and present cooking experiences with the children is very fulfilling.

My final thought: “When I grow up I want to be just like them! Free & completely open minded!”
