Master Teacher

Isabel Piazza Richter

What can I say?.... Teaching is my passion. When I first started working in the field of early childhood, I knew that this was where my heart belonged. I do not believe there could be a career much more suited for me than teaching; because I am a very silly and energetic person who embraces the child within. I believe that it is possible to get older but to never grow up. And that is not always a bad thing. It has definitely helped me support my belief in and for children. Every child is capable of so much and it is our pleasure to support them in discovering the power within.

A little more about me… I am a born and raised San Diegan, who now resides in the nearby city of Santee. I am the younger of two children and am very close to my older brother; kind of like twins. Our family has always been very close knit; even now my parents, my brother, and I spend Saturdays talking, laughing, and creating memories.  Some of my favorite activities are usually outside in nature; from camping, hiking, biking, and even quad riding. And there is no doubt that my favorite animal in the whole wide world is the great giant panda.

Professionally, I received a B.S. degree in Child and Family Development (with an emphasis on Child) from San Diego State University in 2011. In the Spring of 2012, I went on to complete the EC-SEBRIS certificate (Early Childhood-Socio-Emotional Behavioral Regulation Intervention Specialist). Currently I am enrolled in the final year of my graduate degree for a M.S. in Child and Family Development.

I have been lucky to have been employed by SDSU Children’s Center since October of 2009. I began my experience initially as a lab student who was hired as an Assistant Teacher mid semester in the infant’s cottage. As I grew and developed with the children I was advanced to an Associate Teacher role in 2011 and to my current position as a Master Teacher in the summer of 2012. This promotion has opened up the greatest opportunity of my career, the ability to grow and learn with a group of children whom I share a strong, trusting bond. I am very thankful to the children and the families that I have had the pleasure of getting to know. Each and every memory we share is deeply cherished in my mind and heart. And I am looking forward to developing and sharing these great memories with you and your children.
